When you pick books to buy, what is more likely to sway you: a good cover or a good plot?
Ideally I would be swayed by both. If a cover is too pretty it might sway me as well, but often I look at the description and if it is good, only after that I would look at the cover.
When you choose to unhaul books do you sometimes keep bad books if they’re pretty?
No, I would look at the cover, sigh, look again, and put the book aside.
Do you love a book less if the cover is ugly even if the story is good?
Hmm, good question. I would probably not like the book less if the cover is not pretty, but I would feel a little bit sad, if a book I enjoyed has an ugly cover. I would pretend this is not the cover for this book, lol.
Do you like covers less if it turns out the story inside isn’t very interesting?
I think yes, but it has more to do with the fact the if the story is not as enraging as I imagined, I would loose my interest in it, including the cover: it stays pretty but loses its value to me.
Would you rather have a shelf of good stories or beautiful covers?
Definitely first! As much as my eyes enjoy a pretty cover, a good story is infinitely more valuable. If there’s nothing inside, the outside is just an empty shell.

Great quetions and great answers! I often wonder how much control the authors themselves have over what cover their book is going to end up with…
I love comparing US and UK edition covers – sometimes they reflect two different aspects of the book, sometimes you can see a different age group is being targeted, other times I’m left with the question ‘Why?’
A blogger friend of mine regularly deducts half a star for outdated covers!

Thank you! Good question how much an author has a say in their book’s cover. I also think it’s not as easy to create a cover one has in their mind. I mean, the result might be different from the initial vision and not as satisfactory. Oh, I also love to compare US and UK editions! Some books have both editions’ covers sooo pretty, I want to buy both of them)))
Oh, I have never deducted a rating because of a cover; I do not think it’s fair because I try to not judge a book by its cover.

Great answers! I feel the same. I can be swayed by both to purchase but ultimately if it isn’t a book I enjoyed I wouldn’t keep it. It does make me sad though, haha.

I can also unhaul books with pretty covers but it does come with a mournful sigh just like you.
