Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme, hosted by Rukky @Eternity Books & Dani @ Literary Lion, where we get to discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each other’s posts!
Today’s topic is about Booktube, whether I have one or not and why. So, let’s start!
If you blog and booktube why do you do both?
I only blog but was always curious about Booktubers. I think it’s quite a complex job to be on the screens and talk about anything. I feel very exposed on camera and close into myself. I think blogging makes me more comfortable and helps me better structure my thoughts on paper.
If you only blog why have you chosen blogging over booktubing?
As I have mentioned before, I find blogging more to my liking because it makes me comfortable, even cosy, and I feel like I can express myself better on paper. But I admire Booktubers and love watching funny book overviews on youtube. It lightens my day.
Do you think one format does certain things better than the other?
Oh, I certainly believe that booktubing helps you to become more confident on camera, practice your speech, especially for non-native speakers. I know a lot of people who chose booktubing for that reason. But blogging also has its advantages. Writing is quite hard and writing for people helps to develop those writing skills and practice grammar, vocabulary.
Do you ever want to run a booktube if you don’t already?
I was definitely considering the idea, especially because we live in the age of youtube. But I don’t have enough material or time to start a booktube. I think it’s more suitable for people who spend a lot of time reading and blogging, and they wish to expand their scope of activity. For now, I am comfortable with keeping my small blog and enjoying reading a couple of books per month (not as often as I wish) or more if I am lucky with free time, ahaha.
And what are your thoughts regarding Booktubing? Please share it in the comments below. Until next time!
