Legendary (Caraval, #2) by Stephanie Garber

36329818A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.

After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister, Scarlett, from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.

The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister’s. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice, but now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever…

⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2 legendary stars 💖

Welcome, welcome to Caraval . . . the games have only just begun.

Wow. Wooow… Woooow! This is me after finishing this book:

But let me first show you the pattern.

Caraval, beginning: There are some secrets I need answers to.
Caraval, the ending: Ok, most of the questions are answered, but I need a few more answers.
Legendary, beginning: WTF, what’s going on? Where is my comfort zone? Why do I have million more questions to ask?
Legendary, the ending: Flabbergasted state of mind. WTFs are multiplying by the minute. Did you say a million questions? How about a trillion? <— And that is how we got to that gif above.

>>Legendary checklist<<:
Mysterious and magical atmosphere – ✔
Sassy and smart heroine – ✔
Dark swoon-worthy hero – double ✔
A mystery worth selling your firstborn for – ✔

**Nastassja’s confession:**
I am guilty of undervaluing Legendary. I was a reluctant reader when I was picking up the book. Alright, let’s give it a chance, I thought. Let’s hope it is not worse than Caraval.

Delightfully wicked reality:
I am captured. Captured by the magic of Caraval; entranced by the promise of something Legendary. It all lives up to its promises. What a better way to spend time if not by engrossing yourself in a magical story of myth, love, and betrayal.
What a better way to read about smart, sassy heroine like Tella. Truly, she is one of my favorite heroines of all times. How nakedly honest and poignant her voice was. How I wanted to be there with her to help Tella find her truth and happiness. How I admired her honesty with herself, admitting her flows but fighting to be a better person. No fake drama, no unnecessary angst. Light but surprisingly deed touch of feelings pulling some strings inside my heart.

🌟Don’t go away yet, come back for more:🌟

It is so hard to describe “Legendary” without giving away any spoilers. But I can tell you that Stephanie Garber did a fantastic job the second time around, rectifying her mistakes, giving voice to a headstrong heroine, adding a spicy hint of delicious romance and coating all of that with Caraval’s magic, doubled by the mysteries of glittering stars. I am truly a fan now, and my exquisite suffering has just begun.
Grand finale I am ready for you.

“Every good story needs a villain.
But the best villains are the ones you secretly like.”
